Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben Violin Loan

In February 2016, Sumina was loaned a Giuseppe Marconcini violin, made in Ferrara, Italy in the 18th century. This was made possible by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, a german foundation that gives young string players the opportunity to play on valuable instruments, instead of leaving the instruments be unplayed.

Born in 1774, Giuseppe Marconcini was a pupil of Ombono Stradivari and Lorenzo Storioni. He lived and worked in Ferrara, Southern Italy. Most of his violins are covered in golden-brown or bright red lacquer.
